Stroke Symptoms: BE FAST (Every Day Health 2022)

May is Stroke Awareness Month. It's estimated that 80% of strokes are preventable. Marek Cierny, MD, neurologist, discusses the signs and symptoms of stroke (BE FAST) and how to minimize your risk.

What are the signs that someone is having a stroke? And what can be done?

The signs of a stroke are a sudden onset of any of these neurological symptoms (BE FAST).

  • Speaking (slurred speech, unable to retrieve words)
  • Terrible headache, sudden onset of head pain — Time to call 911 immediately!

What You Can Do to Reduce Your Risk of Stroke
